Our story
Small studio, big hearts
We believe games can be a place for genuine human connection — not just competition.
How we got here
The Roasted Beanz started as a dream over a cup of coffee. Linda Karlsson — known to most as Billie Beanz — spent years deep in the DayZ world, first as a player, then as a mod creator, learning what makes a game world feel alive and worth caring about.
In 2026, she founded The Roasted Beanz in Sweden with a single guiding belief: that the most powerful stories are the ones we share. Not the ones where one hero saves the world, but the ones where a small group of people hold each other together when everything is falling apart.
We are an independent studio. That means we answer to our players, not shareholders. It means we take the time to get things right. And it means every game we ship carries a piece of who we are.
Founder & Creative Director
Linda 'Billie Beanz' Karlsson
Linda has been playing games her whole life. She spent years in the DayZ world — as a player and a mod creator — before founding The Roasted Beanz in 2026. She is drawn to stories about ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances, and to the question of what we owe each other when things get hard. When she is not building worlds, she is probably drinking too much coffee and watching Scandinavian crime dramas.
I want to make games that feel like a warm light in a dark window.
What we stand for
Warmth in the dark
Our games live in difficult places — scarcity, loss, hard choices. But they are never without hope. We believe warmth is not the absence of darkness; it is what you build inside it.
People before power
We are not interested in power fantasies. We are interested in people — their fears, their kindness, their capacity to surprise you. Every mechanic we design asks: how does this make you feel about the person next to you?
Details matter
The name of the shopkeeper. The way the snow sounds underfoot. The letter someone left behind. We sweat the small things because we believe the small things are what make a world feel real — and worth saving.
"Games are the campfire of the 21st century. We gather around them to tell stories, to feel less alone, to remember what matters."
— Linda Karlsson, Founder
